Priiya Nair's Aurous Avatar Entertainment reaches a milestone, produces 7 movies in 3 years

Mumbai-based producer Priiya Nair, in a short span of time, has emerged as a producer to be reckoned with, with the release of seven films in just three years. Making a mark in this majority male-dominated industry is no mean feat, and Priiya has co-produced some remarkable movies experimenting in different genres and languages. Hailing from a family of successful entrepreneurs she charted her own success story from a young age when Priiya started her career in the entertainment industry. Today, she successfully co-owns production house Aurous Avatar Entertainment along with Rohit Shetty.

Priiya started modelling at a young age which is not an easy field to break into. After featuring in a number of advertisements she later transitioned into playing the lead in various regional films. Belonging to a successful entrepreneur family, it was no surprise when she showed her own entrepreneurial streak, by venturing into the male dominated word of direction, working with some well-known directors in the industry.

“I feel blessed to have reached this stage in my career, which was not easy. But with hard work and support of my loved ones, I am proud to have achieved so much in my life. I plan to bring out more quality films, which not only strikes a chord with the audience but also fulfills my creative sensibility,” says Priiya Nair, Director of Aurous Avatar Entertainment.

She once again demonstrated her business acumen when in 2015 Priiya along with Rohit Shetty co founded the production house named Aurous Avatar Entertainment, thus embracing a new role of producer. She tasted success with her first movie, a Marathi film named What about Savarkar? The film went on to win 12 nominations and bagged six awards in the best film and the best director category. The second Marathi film was named ‘Ghanta’ in association with Nitin Vaidya, founder, Essel Vision, and released under his production house named Dashyami Films. The third film is a Gujarati movie named ‘Tamburo’, which claims to have the biggest star cast in the 85 years history of Gujarat.

Apart from the above, there are three other projects in the pipeline: Under production is a Marathi film titled ‘DADAR 1992’, a Telugu movie named ‘Dipawali’ and ‘Nanhe Einstein’ directed by Swarupraj Medera and script writer is Saiwyn Quadras, who has written the biopics Mary Kom (2014) and Neerja (2016).
