Paytm disburses 5.5 million loans in April and May, GMV at ₹1.96 lakh crore

 

Mumbai: “Paytm”, India’s leading digital payments and financial services company, has just shared its monthly business operating performance update for April and May 2022. The company has seen its strong growth momentum continue as a lending business is at an annualized run rate of over ₹23,000 crores, while GMV for April and May is at ₹1.96 lakh crore, up by 105%. GMV refers to the merchant payments volume processed through the platform.

The company’s lending business continued to register rapid scale-up. ‘Paytm’ in a stock exchange filing, today said it has disbursed 5.5 million loans during the two months ending May 2022, which is a year-on-year growth of 471%. This aggregates to a loan value of
3,576 Cr ($476 million), a y-o-y growth of 829%. The company further said that it is seeing an increase in average ticket size due to the scale-up of the personal loans business in particular.

The company added that it has cemented its leadership in offline payments with the number of devices deployed crossing 3.4 million as of May 2022. 'Paytm' also registered an increase in its user engagement as the average monthly transacting users (MTU) at
74.3 million for the two months ending May 2022, up 48% y-o-y.

‘Paytm’ closed the previous financial year on a strong note, registering an 89% year-on-year jump in revenue growth in Q4FY22 at Rs 1,541 crore, while the contribution profit grew 210% year-on-year to
539 crore. For the entire FY22, the company’s revenue from operations grew 77% year-on-year to 4,974 crore, while contribution profit increased 313% year-on-year to 1,498 crore.
