The 31 State Winners of ‘Femina Miss India 2022’ participated in a Sea Cleaning Initiative

Mumbai: "The Femina Miss India pageant" has continued the tradition of transforming the lives of young brilliant women and assisting them on their journey to becoming icons in the glamour and fashion industries. 'VLCC presents Femina Miss India 2022', co-powered by 'Sephora', 'Moj', and 'Rajnigandha Pearls' aims to carry on the tradition with a clear goal of extending whole-hearted support to the new generation of women who have a wide range of talents and a lot of potentials to lead and represent a great country like India in the future. With every prominent and renowned title comes the enormous obligation of carrying out one's social responsibilities.

While the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world in 2020 and 2021, the seas and oceans were subjected to excessive garbage disposal as a result of increased waste. Excessive garbage disposal has raised concerns about coral reef conservation and marine life survival. 'Femina Miss India 2022' and Rajnigandha Pearls have decided to take action and raise awareness about the aforementioned issue.

With the ideology of "achchai/ goodness" at its core, which inspires people to do good for humanity and the natural flora and fauna around them, 'Femina Miss India 2022' and Rajnigandha Pearls organized a Sea Cleaning Initiative with all 31 state winners, and to effectively implement it, had joined hands with Afroz Shah, a decorated environmental activist and recipient of the United Nation's highest environmental honor.

The 31 State Winners of Femina Miss India 2022 participated in the Rajnigandha Pearls Act of Goodness – Sea Cleaning initiative. It helped to keep our oceans and seas clean. Each State Winner was given 15 minutes to collect as much garbage as possible, which was then weighed upon arrival onshore.

The State Winners not only collected plastic bags, bottles, and other non-biodegradable garbage, but they also pledged to continue their support by devoting some of their time to this cause.

'Femina Miss India 2022' collected approximately 1000 kg of garbage in total. Furthermore, the winner will be sashed as Rajnigandha Pearls Miss Goodness Ambassador during the Awards ceremony on 16th June 2022 at Famous Studios based on a combined score from this activity and an assessment of all the acts of goodness that the state winners demonstrated throughout the pageant.

Commenting on the same:
"The love we have for our mother nature must be manifested by acting on it and taking the initiative to protect and conserve it," Afroz Shah said. “The pageant has always been a fertile ground for grooming tomorrow's leaders. It's inspiring to see State Winners roll up their sleeves and clean up the water bodies, and I think it's a huge step toward educating people about their environmental responsibilities. It also goes to show that Femina Miss India is all about beauty with a purpose. I'd like to thank all of the participants for their assistance today and for actively participating in this initiative."

"The oceans play an important role in the sustenance of our ecosystem and biodiversity," Pooja Chopra stated. “It is critical to keep our water bodies safe for marine and coral life. I believe that we should be the change we wish to see in the world. I'd like to remind everyone to use less plastic and recycle it as much as possible. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this noble and impactful initiative, and I hope that many others will continue to shoulder this responsibility and raise awareness about the importance of conserving our marine life."

"I have always believed that our actions are the defining factors for our beauty," Manika Sheokand said. “It gives me great pride to see these ladies fulfill their responsibilities and give back to society. We must all share the responsibility of protecting our environment. I would encourage our children to participate in The Sea Cleaning initiative and help keep our seas and oceans as clean as possible. If we want to see change, we must begin with ourselves, and it is past time for us to accept responsibility for our actions.”

"It is critical to keep the environment and beaches clean so that marine life can live peacefully," Manya Singh said. “If we want to live in a cleaner and safer environment, we should make it a habit to keep our surroundings sanitary and clean. I would like to urge civic officials to take the necessary steps to control marine pollution by reducing industrial and domestic littering.”
