SBI Life Hosts 'Thanks A Dot' Breast Cancer Awareness Program for Women Officers of Mumbai Police, Advocating Self-Breast Examination

Mumbai: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, 'SBI Life', in collaboration with Lion’s Club, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Program for women officers of the 'Mumbai Police' under its “Thanks-A-Dot” initiative. Recognizing the challenges faced by women in law enforcement, particularly in balancing their duties with health concerns, 'SBI Life' aimed to empower them with knowledge and tools for early detection of breast cancer.

The program featured the distribution of the innovative ‘Thanks-A-Dot’ Hot Water Bag, designed to facilitate self-breast examination. The bag contains lumps identical to actual cancer lumps, serving as a tactile guide for examination. 'SBI Life' also open-sourced the design, enabling wider accessibility to this crucial tool.

Mr. Amit Jhingran, MD & CEO of SBI Life Insurance, emphasized the importance of early detection and self-care in combating breast cancer. He highlighted the alarming statistic that 60% of breast cancer cases are reported in later stages, underlining the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures.

Addressing the women officers, Mr. Jhingran expressed SBI Life’s commitment to empowering women to prioritize their health. He underscored the significance of regular self-examination and encouraged women to adopt this life-saving habit.

Mahima Chaudhary, Actor & Breast Cancer Survivor, shared her personal experience and emphasized the impact of early detection. She commended SBI Life's initiative for providing women with the knowledge and tools needed for self-examination.

The event concluded with the distribution of hot water bags to the women officers, accompanied by an interactive session on self-breast examination techniques. SBI Life reiterated its dedication to spreading awareness and facilitating early detection of breast cancer nationwide.
