CREDAI-MCHI Celebrates World Environment Day with Massive Bamboo Planting Initiative

 

Mumbai: The celebration of 'World Environment Day' by "CREDAI-MCHI", the leading real estate body in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), took place through an Environmental Exhibition at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai, in collaboration with The Phoenix Foundation. The event also marked the release of the book "Kalpavriksha Bamboo".

Eminent personalities like Shri. Uday Samant, Minister of Industries of Maharashtra; Boman Irani, President of CREDAI; Mr. Pasha Patel, President of Agriculture Price Commission; Domnic Romell, President of CREDAI-MCHI; Padmashri awardee Bhushan Tyagi; Dr. Rati Nadir Godrej from the Godrej Industries Group; Mr. Sandeep Bajoria, Chairman of All India Cottonseed Crushers' Association; Mrs. Feroza Dadan, the first cycling mayor of Mumbai and promoter of Smart Commute Foundation; Mrs. Neha Gupta and Mr. Vineet of the international fashion business exchange council graced the exhibition.

Maharashtra has been proactive in environmental initiatives, including bamboo cultivation on ten lakh hectares of land, forming India's first Environmental Task Force, and launching campaigns like "Green Maharashtra", "Jalyukt Maharashtra", and "My Earth".

Shri. Uday Samant highlighted the state's commitment to sustainability, emphasizing the benefits of promoting bamboo cultivation for industry and farmers.

The recent extreme temperature spikes underscore the urgency of environmental action, with temperatures in Churu, Rajasthan, and Delhi reaching alarming levels. Mr. Boman Irani stressed the importance of integrating sustainable materials like bamboo into construction to build resilient communities capable of facing environmental challenges.

Mr. Domnic Romell reiterated CREDAI-MCHI's dedication to sustainable development, showcased through the Environmental Exhibition on World Environment Day. The organization promotes the use of bamboo in construction and green building to create a greener future.

Mr. Pasha Patel emphasized the need for immediate action to save the environment, urging the adoption of eco-friendly energy sources and the planting of more trees. Bamboo, being a fast-growing plant and a great energy source, can significantly benefit the environment.

The seminar "Kalpavriksha Bamboo", hosted by the Sustainable Environment Council 2024, explored the ecological benefits of bamboo and urged developers to adopt sustainable materials and practices in construction. CREDAI-MCHI called on developers to incorporate bamboo products in their projects and pursue LEED certification to promote energy-efficient, green building standards.

The event aimed to address environmental challenges and encourage collective efforts towards sustainable development, inviting environmental enthusiasts to join the "Action Plan" to combat climate change and ensure a sustainable future.
