Mumbai: Japan’s largest furniture and home furnishings chain, “Nitori”, marked its entry into the Indian market with the inauguration of its first store at R City Mall in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The expansive store, covering a 32,000 sq. ft. carpet area, offers a wide selection of high-quality furniture and home décor at affordable prices, catering to the growing demand in India’s USD 23.9 billion home furnishing market.
The launch is part of Nitori's ambitious global expansion strategy, with a target of 3,000 stores worldwide by 2032. The new store is strategically located within R City Mall, which spans 1.2 million sq. ft. and attracts 1 million monthly visitors, ensuring high visibility for the brand. The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a cultural program, and a special Nitori product showcase.
Mr. Masanori Takeda, Executive Vice President of Nitori Holdings, spoke about the significance of the store’s launch, emphasizing its role in fulfilling Nitori’s mission to “enrich the homes of people all over the world.” He also expressed confidence that the store would meet the unique needs of Indian customers while offering premium quality products.
‘The Nitori Store’ at R City offers an extensive collection of home furnishings across multiple categories, including living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms, with products ranging from sofas and dining tables to kitchen cabinets, bedding, and decor items.
With plans to open 280 stores by 2032, 'Nitori' is particularly focused on expanding its footprint in Asia, aiming to establish around 100 stores outside Japan by FY2024, including future locations in India.
