Accor and InterGlobe Unite to Build India’s Fastest-Growing Hospitality Giant

Mumbai/Paris: In a landmark move set to revolutionize the Indian hospitality sector, "Accor", a global hospitality giant, and "InterGlobe Enterprises", India's leading travel and aviation conglomerate, have announced a strengthened strategic alliance aimed at creating the country’s fastest-growing hospitality platform. With a shared vision to unlock India's immense travel and tourism potential, the partnership targets the development of 300 hotels under Accor brands by 2030.

'Accor' currently operates 71 hotels in India with 40 more in the pipeline, spanning economy to luxury segments. This partnership will accelerate its expansion, streamline operations, and deepen its footprint across all market segments including luxury and lifestyle.

'InterGlobe', the force behind India's largest airline IndiGo, brings unmatched travel and hospitality expertise, an entrepreneurial legacy, and deep domestic market knowledge. With over 118 million passengers flown in FY25, InterGlobe is one of India's most valuable aviation and travel enterprises.

Key Highlights of the Collaboration:
  • Unified Hospitality Platform: Accor and InterGlobe will integrate their hotel assets, development, and management businesses in India into an autonomous, exclusive platform responsible for scaling all Accor brands, including lifestyle labels from Ennismore.
  • Exclusive Investment in Treebo: In a game-changing move, both entities will jointly invest in Treebo, becoming its largest shareholders. With 800 hotels across 120 cities, Treebo brings robust tech-driven capabilities. It will lead the expansion of Ibis and Mercure under a master license agreement—with ten new Mercure hotels already signed.
  • Expanding Accor’s Reach: By combining Accor's global branding, InterGlobe's operational excellence, and Treebo's scalable technology, the alliance will position the combined entity as India’s third-largest hospitality player, with over 30,000 rooms nationwide.

India, with a 7% GDP growth rate, rising air connectivity, and a growing middle class, is poised to become the world’s 3rd largest domestic travel market and 5th largest outbound travel market by 2027.

Despite this growth, India’s hotel industry remains highly fragmented, creating a significant opportunity for organized, branded players like Accor and InterGlobe to lead sectoral transformation.

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO of Accor, remarked: “This partnership marks a transformative moment for Accor in India. With InterGlobe’s market insights and our shared ambition, we’re unlocking growth in one of the world’s most exciting travel markets.”

Rahul Bhatia, Group Managing Director, InterGlobe Enterprises, said: “We are excited to build on our decades-long relationship with Accor. With India’s dynamic growth and evolving travel landscape, this partnership will set new benchmarks for guest experiences and value creation.”

With global expertise, local intelligence, and cutting-edge technology, this alliance is set to redefine India’s hospitality landscape. Together, Accor, InterGlobe, and Treebo aim to deliver superior guest experiences, expand quality hotel offerings, and revolutionize hospitality standards across India.
