11th Filmfare Awards Marathi Set to Honour Best of Marathi Cinema

 

Mumbai: Filmfare has announced the nominations for the 11th edition of the Filmfare Awards Marathi, celebrating outstanding achievements in Marathi cinema across acting, direction, music, writing and technical craftsmanship. The nominations were unveiled at a press conference in Mumbai attended by Filmfare Editor-in-Chief Jitesh Pillaai and acclaimed actor Amruta Khanvilkar.

The prestigious awards ceremony will take place on August 6, 2026, at Sahara Star, Mumbai. Actors Siddharth Chandekar and Amey Wagh will host the evening, which is set to bring together leading names from the Marathi film industry. The ceremony will premiere soon on Sony Marathi.

Among this year's nominations, Dashavatar emerged as the leading contender with 22 nominations, followed by Ata Thambaycha Naay! and Gondhal, with 19 nominations each. April May 99 secured 17 nominations, highlighting the diverse range of films and performances that marked the Marathi film industry during 2025.

The Best Film category features April May 99, Ata Thambaycha Naay!, Dashavatar, Fussclass Dabhade, Jarann and Sthal – A Match.

The race for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) includes Amey Wagh and Siddharth Chandekar for Fussclass Dabhade, Bharat Jadhav for Ata Thambaycha Naay!, Dilip Prabhavalkar for Dashavatar, Lalit Prabhakar for Aarpar and Mahesh Manjrekar for Devmanus. In the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) category, nominees include Amruta Subhash (Jarann), Hruta Durgule (Aarpar), Renuka Shahane (Devmanus), Sai Tamhankar (Gulkand) and Sajiri Joshi (April May 99).

The Best Director nominations feature Hemant Dhome, Jayant Digambar Somalkar, Rohan Mapuskar, Rushikesh K. Gupte, Shivraj Waichal and Subodh Khanolkar for their respective films.

Meanwhile, the Best Film (Critics') category includes Devmanus, Gondhal, Sabar Bonda, Sthal – A Match, Teen Paayancha Ghoda and Uttar. The Best Debut Director category also recognises emerging filmmakers, including Gaurav Patki, Jayant Digambar Somalkar, Rohan Mapuskar, Rohan Parashuram Kanawade, Santosh Davakhar, Shivraj Waichal and Subodh Khanolkar.

Amruta Khanvilkar said being part of the nomination announcement was special, recalling how Filmfare represented the pinnacle of achievement for aspiring performers. She said she was proud to celebrate Marathi cinema and the rich cultural legacy of Maharashtra.

Jitesh Pillaai said Marathi cinema has developed a distinctive voice within Indian cinema, with this year's nominations reflecting excellence in storytelling, performances and technical craftsmanship. He congratulated all nominees and said Filmfare looks forward to celebrating the fraternity on August 6.
