Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the two-day international conference of the second edition of the Global Impact Forum (GIF II), organised by AP Globale in Mumbai. The forum brings together representatives and cultural voices from BRICS nations to explore how contemporary global partnerships can be strengthened through diverse cultures, ancient wisdom, traditions and shared experiences.
Consul Generals from Brazil, China, Russia and South Africa, along with Janhavi Pawar, Director, AP Globale, were present at the inauguration. The conference focuses on addressing emerging global challenges by drawing lessons from the knowledge, values and practices developed by ancient civilisations, rather than viewing history merely as a record of the past.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the importance of cultural exchange, people-to-people relationships and economic cooperation in building global unity. Referring to India's philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, he said the idea of the world being one family remains central to India's approach to global engagement.
Fadnavis also highlighted the role of platforms such as BRICS in representing the aspirations of the Global South. He said that when political consensus becomes difficult, cultural traditions and values associated with art, health and human welfare can provide pathways towards peace and harmony.
The first day featured discussions and demonstrations focused on cultural and sporting exchanges between participating countries. During the India-Brazil dialogue, dancer Ananda Shankar Jayant and Capoeira master Professor Raza Baba explored how dance and physical movement can create connections across geographical and cultural boundaries.
A session titled ‘The Face of a Nation’ featured Miss India World 2026 Sadhvi Sail and Miss Universe Brazil 2024 Luana Cavalcante, who discussed beauty, representation and national identity. Former Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia also highlighted the role of sport in strengthening national pride and creating connections between communities.
The India-China dialogue featured insights into martial arts, calligraphy and traditional health practices, providing participants with an opportunity to explore aspects of China's cultural and knowledge traditions.
Janhavi Pawar, Director, AP Globale, said the organisation is committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of BRICS nations. She emphasised the importance of recognising Russia's classical arts, South Africa's cultural vibrancy, Brazil's dance and beauty traditions, and China's traditional knowledge systems.
The Global Impact Forum II seeks to connect ancient values with contemporary innovation and international cooperation. Through cultural dialogue, knowledge exchange, sports and shared experiences, the conference aims to contribute towards a more inclusive, equitable and collaborative global future.
