The Delhi High Court has ordered the government to block 'Nicelocal. In' in a data theft case filed by 'JustDial'
National: In litigation filed by Just Dial Limited, the website www.nicelocal.in (managed by Local Search Solutions Pvt. Ltd.) has been blocked due to data and source code theft.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) have been ordered by Hon'ble Justice Prathiba M. Singh of the Delhi High Court to block the website nicelocal.in and cease all of its services. A restraining order prohibits the domain name registrant from transferring the domain name.
The Hon. High Court, in granting an ad-interim order, barred the website nicelocal.in from advertising any goods or services and ordered the preservation of data, including an affidavit declaring the amount of money received so far from any consumers. In addition, the Hon. High Court has requested a progress report on the FIR filed against nicelocal.in and its directors by the Noida police.
Nicelocal.in appears to have two stockholders, one situated in Cyprus and the other in Russia. There is also a director stationed in Delhi. By scraping data from Just Dial's database, Nicelocal.in was running a rogue website. It was also collecting money without issuing invoices, including auto-debit. Nicelocal.in may have received a big number of completely innocent people. As a result, restraining orders have been issued until the next date.
