Maharashtra Postal Circle Joins MSRLM to Boost Rural Women’s Empowerment

Mumbai: In a groundbreaking initiative to boost rural livelihoods, the "Maharashtra Postal Circle", in collaboration with the 'Department of Posts' and the "Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission" (MSRLM), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide logistic support for rural women entrepreneurs.

This partnership leverages the Department of Posts' logistical expertise to offer rural women entrepreneurs, organized through MSRLM's self-help groups (SHGs), parcel delivery and cash-on-delivery (CoD) services, thus expanding their reach and fostering economic empowerment.

Key Highlights of the MoU:
  • Logistic Support: The Department of Posts will facilitate door-to-door delivery of products made by rural SHGs, ensuring a seamless connection between rural entrepreneurs and their customers.
  • Cash-on-Delivery (CoD) Facility: A CoD option will be available, providing rural women entrepreneurs with secure and timely payments.
  • Free Pick-Up Services: SHGs generating monthly business over ₹10,000 at a single location will benefit from free pick-up services, enhancing ease of logistics and reducing costs.
  • Dak Niryat Kendra (DNK): This "one-stop shop" provides packaging, booking, and customs clearance services under one roof, allowing SHGs to access international markets easily.

This partnership is aimed at empowering rural women by expanding their market reach and enhancing their financial independence. By combining the extensive network of the Department of Posts with MSRLM's focus on rural development, this collaboration is set to make a significant impact on Maharashtra’s rural economy and improve the livelihoods of women entrepreneurs across the state.
