PLEXCONNECT 2024: Premier Plastics Expo Sees Record International Participation

 

Mumbai: The mega plastics exhibition "PLEXCONNECT 2024", organized by the 'Plastics Export Promotion Council' (PLEXCONCIL), was held from June 7-9 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. The event was a resounding success, reinforcing India's status as a leading global sourcing destination for plastics products and machinery.

The three-day exhibition saw enthusiastic participation from the plastics fraternity across India and international buyers. Over 400 overseas buyers from more than 50 major importing nations, including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Kenya, Russia, the United States, and Vietnam, attended to network and source from Indian exporters.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Ravish Kamat, PLEXCONCIL Chairman, along with other notable officials from the council and government. Speaking at the inaugural, Chief Guest Shri. Ravish Kamat highlighted India's prowess in the plastics industry and its significant role in global trade. He noted the growing demand for polymers in India, projected to reach $30 billion by 2047, and emphasized the importance of the petrochemical industry in India's economic growth.

Held in Hall 2 & 3, this second edition featured leading Indian manufacturers and exporters such as All Time Plastics, Auto-tech Sirmax, Big Bags International, Dalmia Polypro, Dynasty Plastics, Flair Writing Industries, Mamata Machinery, The Supreme Industries, and Uniloy Plastics Machinery. Exhibitors showcased world-class manufacturing capabilities across various product segments, highlighting India’s resilience and potential to increase its global market share despite geopolitical and supply chain challenges.

Hemant Minocha, Vice Chairman of PLEXCONCIL, expressed confidence in the Indian plastics industry's ability to expand its global footprint. He remarked on the significant interest and enthusiasm among international buyers, even from far-off Latin American countries like Brazil, Chile, and Peru.

Exclusive state pavilions for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh showcased the manufacturing strengths of their local plastics clusters. Exhibitors were excited about the quality of buyer attendance and the interest shown on the first day of 'PLEXCONNECT 2024'.

Following the inauguration, PLEXCONNECT's Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) began, facilitating over 8,000 pre-scheduled meetings between Indian suppliers and global buyers, fostering new sourcing partnerships. Dhruv Sayani, PLEXCONNECT 2024 Convener, emphasized the opportunities for Indian plastics exporters and the potential to achieve USD 25 billion in plastics exports by 2027.

Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director of PLEXCONCIL, highlighted the positive impact of the Indian government’s free trade agreements and new Foreign Trade Policy on the MSME sector's growth. These initiatives have empowered businesses to facilitate exports and propel the Indian plastics industry toward remarkable growth and global market expansion.

On June 7, 2024, 'PLEXCONCIL' will honor industry leaders and top export performers at its Annual Awards ceremony, presided over by the Hon'ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri. Ramesh Bais. The ceremony will feature 47 awards across categories like Export Performance, Innovation and Sustainability, and Women Entrepreneurs.
