NSPL Leads Consortium, Signs MoUs with Indian and Global Partners, Including L&T and Thales Alenia Space

Mumbai: "Nibe Space Pvt. Ltd." (NSPL), a subsidiary of 'Nibe Limited', announced its ambitious plan to establish India’s first multi-sensor, all-weather, high-revisit Earth Observation Satellite Constellation. This initiative, unveiled at an event at The Leela, Mumbai, marks a significant step towards enhancing India’s self-reliance in the critical defence-space sector.

‘NSPL’ signed agreements with key Indian and global partners including Larsen & Toubro, CENTUM, AgniKul, Skyroot, SpaceFields, SISIR, CYRAN, and Thales Alenia Space, which serves as the technology partner. This constellation of 40 satellites, expected to be deployed over the next five to six years, will provide high-resolution imagery with GSD ≤ 50 cm and support India’s national security and strategic interests.

Currently, India relies heavily on foreign satellite imagery, which is costly and limited in scope. NSPL's satellite constellation aims to address this dependency, offering end-to-end solutions for defense and space-based earth observation needs. This initiative will support India’s vision of becoming self-reliant (Atmanirbhar Bharat) in space technology.

The event was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of DDR&D and Chairman of DRDO; Shri Jayant Patil from Larsen & Toubro; and Shri
Ashish Chauhan, Managing Director & CEO of NSE Ltd. Virtual congratulatory messages were sent by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, and Shri Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Minister of Revenue, Government of Maharashtra.

Mr. Ganesh Ramesh Nibe, Founder of Nibe Limited, emphasized the importance of collaboration with global and Indian partners, stating, “This milestone project will accelerate local technology and skill development, reinforcing India’s position in the global space industry”.

Mr. Ashish Saraf, VP and Country Director of Thales in India, added, “We are proud to contribute to this significant leap forward in India’s space sector”.

This initiative also provides opportunities for startups in the defence and space sectors, aligning with the "Make in India" and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" missions. NSPL's consortium approach, involving MSMEs and startups, is expected to fast-track the development of crucial space technologies.

The establishment of this satellite constellation will greatly enhance India’s capabilities in earth observation, benefiting sectors from national defense to agriculture and disaster management. As the first private constellation of its kind in India, NSPL’s project represents a key milestone in the country’s space journey.
