SBI Empowers Rural Youth via Jagriti Yatra 2024 for India’s Growth Vision

 

Mumbai: "State Bank of India" (SBI), the largest bank in the country, has entered into a partnership with "Jagriti Yatra 2024", a pioneering 8,000-km, 15-day entrepreneurial journey across India's Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions. Through this collaboration, SBI aims to create opportunities for 500 young aspirants to explore entrepreneurial avenues, receive mentorship from experts, and gain practical, hands-on learning experiences. The initiative is part of SBI's broader commitment to fostering a self-reliant India and contributing to the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

As part of its ongoing efforts to encourage entrepreneurship across the nation, SBI has taken several initiatives to support aspiring innovators:

  • 152 Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) have been established, focusing on skill development and the training of rural youth to build micro-enterprises. These institutes have successfully trained over 11.5 lakh candidates, with 74% of them establishing self-employment ventures.
  • SBI's Self-Help Group (SHG) loan portfolio exceeds ₹50,000 crore, benefiting over 1 crore women members and making the bank a leader in this segment.
  • The bank has disbursed over ₹49,000 crore in Mudra loans and approximately ₹1,550 crore in PM SVANidhi loans during FY24, supporting sustainable entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
