Teach For India Celebrates 15 Years with a Special Musical and Launches Arts Fellowship

 

Mumbai: "Teach For India" (TFI), a non-profit organization dedicated to championing educational equity, commemorated its 15-year milestone with a unique musical, ‘With Love’, which showcased the organization’s inspiring journey over the years. This celebration also marked the launch of an innovative Arts Fellowship Program, aimed at furthering TFI's mission to bridge educational inequity.

The Arts Fellowship, a full-time paid program, will begin accepting applications on January 6, 2025. It is designed to empower Fellows to deliver high-quality arts instruction in underprivileged schools across India, fostering students’ voices, creativity, and self-expression. The program is a product of insights from TFI alumni, staff, and external experts working at the intersection of arts and education.

As part of its long-term vision, 'Teach For India' plans to expand its operations to 3-5 additional cities by 2032, increasing its footprint from the current 8 cities (Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune) to 11-13 cities. The organization also aims to build a robust network of 50,000 leaders, including teachers, teacher trainers, school leaders, student leaders, entrepreneurs, and government officials, to create systemic change in education across the country.

With 1,000 Fellows and 5,000 Alumni impacting 50 million children nationwide, we have been working relentlessly towards bridging the education inequity gap and building a nation of leaders. By launching the new Arts Fellowship, we hope to immerse students in local and global art forms, instilling in them a lifelong appreciation for artistic expression while enabling them to lead with creativity, compassion, and a commitment to societal change.”

This addition complements TFI’s existing two-year Fellowship program, offering new opportunities for leadership development and ensuring access to an excellent education for more children.

As 'Teach For India' embarks on its next chapter, it remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing educational inequity, fostering future leaders, and creating a profound and lasting impact on the nation’s education system.
