Mumbai: Commenting on the Union Budget 2026–27, N D Mali, Founder of KDM, has welcomed the government’s continued focus on strengthening MSMEs, accelerating skill development, and building a self-reliant manufacturing ecosystem aligned with the vision of Atmanirbharta and Viksit Bharat.
According to Mali, the Budget reflects a clear intent to support India’s manufacturing environment by prioritising initiatives that enable MSMEs to scale, innovate, and compete globally. He highlighted that placing skill development at the centre of the national agenda, with a strong emphasis on industry-aligned skills and an Education-to-Employment approach, is both timely and essential for addressing workforce readiness and employment generation.
“Budget 2026 marks a defining moment where India moves from being a consumer of global brands to becoming a creator of them, powered by a strong Swadesi vision,” Mali said. He added that this shift will not only strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities but also enhance India’s position in global value chains.
Mali also welcomed the Finance Minister’s focus on the four priority groups—garib, mahilayen, yuva, and annadata—noting that placing women at the centre of the growth narrative is critical for inclusive and sustainable development. He said targeted support for women-led enterprises and skill-building initiatives would have a multiplier effect on economic participation and social progress.
Additionally, Mali pointed to the Budget’s emphasis on adventure tourism as a positive step toward boosting local economies. He noted that promoting eco-tourism, trekking, and hiking experiences would generate employment opportunities in remote regions while supporting sustainable tourism practices.
Overall, Mali described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a forward-looking roadmap that balances economic growth with inclusion, skill development, and sustainability, setting the foundation for long-term national progress.
