ASUS and VIDYA Partner to Empower 6000+ Underprivileged Children and Youth with Digital Literacy Skills

Mumbai: In a significant move towards bridging the digital divide, ASUS India, a leading Taiwanese technology brand, has joined hands with Vidya Integrated Development for Youth and Adults (VIDYA) to launch a Digital Literacy Program for children and youth from marginalized communities in Western India. This initiative aims to equip over 6,130 direct beneficiaries—including 5,480 children and 650 youth—with critical digital skills, while engaging 2,000+ community members as indirect beneficiaries through an ecosystem-driven approach.

The first phase of the program will be rolled out in Mumbai, followed by Goa and Gujarat, and will adopt an age-appropriate, project-based curriculum aligned with the UN’s and UNESCO’s Digital Literacy Frameworks. Students from Grade 1 to 10 will be introduced to computer basics, digital storytelling, poster design, programming (Scratch, Python), and digital ethics, with a strong focus on creativity, collaboration, and self-directed learning.

For youth, the partnership will provide certified digital and IT-enabled training programs through collaborations with recognized institutions such as NIIT Foundation, NASSCOM Future Skills Prime, and Skill India Mission. Participants will also benefit from career guidance, English communication modules, job-readiness training, and alumni support to ease the transition from education to meaningful employment.

Eric Ou, Country Head, ASUS India, expressed, "At ASUS, our commitment to creating meaningful impact goes beyond delivering technology—it lies in ensuring innovation reaches those who need it most. Through this program, we aim to empower students and youth from underserved communities by equipping them with critical digital skills and access to opportunities necessary for a future-ready generation."

Rashmi Misra, Founder President, VIDYA India, added, "Every child deserves the chance to dream, to learn, and to thrive in a digital world. Through our partnership with ASUS, we are opening doors for thousands of young minds—many of whom are first-generation learners. This initiative is not just about digital literacy; it’s about hope, opportunity, and empowerment."

The initiative includes setting up digital labs in select schools, powered by ASUS technology, where students will engage with the curriculum weekly. Practical pathways through internships, placements, and ongoing mentorship ensure that participants are not only learning but are also job-ready.

Through this program, ASUS India reinforces its commitment to social equity, sustainable impact, and building dignified livelihoods in the communities it serves—laying the groundwork for a future-ready, digitally empowered India.
