Samiksha Bhatnagar to be seen in a period drama

Actor Samiksha Bhatnagar is known for her interesting and versatile projects. The actor, who played the role of an annoying wife in the film Poster Boys alongside Bobby Deol, will now be seen in a period drama titled Hey Ram Hamne Gandhi Ko Maar Diya. The film is being produced and directed by Naeem A Siddique.

Talking about her role and the film Samiksha says, "I have been fortunate that after playing a character like Suraj Mukhi, in my second film, I am playing a character called Sudha, who is completely opposite to my previous character. The film is a period drama and based in the 50s after independence. The film is a tribute to the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi. January 30th will be Gandhiji's 150th death anniversary and the film will tentatively release on 23rd February.”

She adds, “The film will portray the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. He has taught us how one can win people's heart with non-violence. My character Sudha is extremely positive and showers a lot of love and compassion to whoever she meets. It’s an out and out positive character."

In fact, the actor sports a very interesting look for the film, "The look is inspired from the independence era. I wore lot of cotton sarees. For my reference I saw a lot of old films specially films which have Meena Kumari, Madhubala and Vyajayantimala, so I could adopt the body language. The film is presented in an urban setup so today's audience can relate to it,” she says.

The film also stars actor Jatin Goswami who plays Samiksha's husband. He was seen in the critically acclaimed and successful film Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.

Hey Ram Hamne Gandhi Ko Maar Diya has been entirely shot in the city of Lucknow. Talking about her craft and career Samiksha adds, "I always would like to be remembered for my acting and not as a star. What excites me is the role and various shades of it. My inspirations are actresses like Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil."
