India Post to start a new Franchisee scheme from 1st Feb 2024 for setting up post office franchisee outlets
Mumbai: “India Post” has the largest postal network in the world, with over 1.55 lakh post offices, including 89% in rural areas, there continues to be a demand for post offices. Yet there is a constant demand from customers to open more post offices, especially in newly developing urban agglomerations. To meet this, the India Post New Franchisee scheme is starting from 1st Feb 2024 for setting up post office franchisee outlets.
What can be offered by a Franchisee outlet?
- Booking of Inland Speed Post Non-COD(Documents & Parcel), Inland Registered Letters, eMoney order
- Sale of postage stamps & stationery
- Retail services include the sale of revenue stamps, central recruitment fee stamps, etc.
- Functioning as a direct agent for Postal Life Insurance Products and providing related after-sales service, including collection of premia
How to Become a Franchisee?
- Applicants for a franchisee would need to apply in a prescribed format.
- Individuals as well as institutions/organizations/ other entities like corner shops, paanwalas, kiranawalas, stationery shops, small shopkeepers, etc.
- Age: Above 18 years. No upper-age selection has been fixed considering the need to select persons with the capacity to manage and market a range of products.
- Individuals/Organizations will agree with Bhartiya Dak.
- Educational qualifications: 10th class pass from a recognized School. A person with good knowledge of the Local language and English; Computer literacy; working knowledge of phone; valid PAN number—may apply to become a Franchisee.
- Applicant has to deposit Rs.10,000/- as security deposit with Post Office.
Commission to Franchisee:
The franchisees will earn a commission of Rs. 3.00 for each Registered letter, Rs. 5.00 for each money order of value more than Rs.200/-, and 5% on the Sale of Postage Stamps and stationery. The commission rate for the Speed Post article booked is very attractive and the franchisee will earn 7% to 25% of the monthly business secured by him.
Selection Criteria:The Postal Divisional Head will be the competent authority to engage the Franchisee.
India Post has also launched the 'Click N Book' Service, an online platform that allows customers to book speed posts, registered letters, and parcels. Currently, the service is available in 141 post offices of Maharashtra Postal Circle.
- Customers will need to register on the postal department's website: https://www.indiapost.gov.in/Help/Pages/ClicknBook_individuals.aspx to avail of the service.
- A nominal flat pickup fee of Rs. 50/- will be charged.
- A free pick-up facility is provided for the articles with a tariff of not less than Rs. 500/-.
- Payment is to be made through the Online Payment Gateway authorized by DoP.
- This facility will be beneficial for senior citizens, college students, and working individuals who are not able to visit the Post Office during regular working hours for the booking of their articles.
"Smart & Digital Parcel Delivery System" (ANVIT Sewa) is bringing a revolution in parcel deliveries. This smart and reliable delivery system is designed to collect parcels/articles at any time (24/7) from our Postal premises. This High-Tech streamlined and efficient delivery system will provide OTP-based delivery of parcels to the public without any cost and is now available at Thane Head Post Office in Thane City, Vashi Sub Post Office in Navi Mumbai City, and Infotech Park Sub Post Office in Pune City. ANVIT Sewa is set to spread its wings to new horizons with upcoming expansions at prime locations viz Mumbai GPO, Mumbai Central Railway station, Ghatkopar West, and 5 more locations in Mumbai.
To promote export activities and to facilitate the export-related process as well as to provide all the facilities to the exporters under one roof, the Department of Posts has started Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs) in all Districts and major post offices in Maharashtra and Goa State. Facilities like Parcel Packaging material, Postal Bill of Exchange (PBE), Custom clearance facility, Pick up facility for bulk customers, etc. are being provided to the exporters under one roof. As of date, 69 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs) are operationalized in Maharashtra and Goa State.
