Mumbai: The inaugural edition of the “Entertainer’s Cricket League” (ECL), the first content creator-based cricketing league, was unveiled at a press conference attended by industry stalwarts including Abhishek Malhan, Sonu Sharma, Elvish Yadav, Harsh Beniwal, Munawar Faruqui, Anurag Dwivedi, and league founders, Anil Kumar and Himanshu Chandnani. This franchise-based league, featuring six teams, is scheduled to take place in August and September.
Mr. Anil Kumar, Founder of Entertainer’s Cricket League, emphasized the league's significance, stating, “The ECL is the perfect match between two things that India loves most, cricket and its content creators. It will be a great opportunity for creators to come together and have exposure that is not possible online”.
The league will see each creator leading one of the six franchises, with teams selecting players from a pool of 250 popular content creators, culminating in a final selection of 96. These creators span various industries, including technology, finance, infotainment, education, motivation, self-help, entertainment, gaming, fashion, and lifestyle from India.
Commenting on the league, team captains expressed excitement about the unique blend of sports and entertainment. Abhishek Malhan, Captain of Team Bangalore, described it as a thrilling experience, while Sonu Sharma, Captain of Team Delhi, highlighted its significance as a celebration of the community.
The ECL is anticipated to attract over 100 crore viewers across the first season alone, owing to the substantial follower base of the content creators. The league will be broadcast live on an undisclosed partner platform, promising fans an immersive experience.
Mr. Himanshu Chandnani, Co-founder of ECL, expressed optimism about the league's potential to become a legacy event in India, aiming to create an inclusive community for all content creators.
The launch of the Entertainer’s Cricket League marks a significant milestone in the intersection of sports and digital entertainment, promising an extravaganza that will captivate millions of fans across the nation.
