‘Brilliant Bharat’ Dazzles at IIJS 2025; India’s Gem & Jewellery Sector Eyes Global Glory

Mumbai: The 41st edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere, organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), opened today at the JIO World Convention Centre, BKC, marking the largest-ever edition of the prestigious B2B gem and jewellery trade show. With a theme of “Brilliant Bharat – Architecture of India,” the event showcases India's rich cultural legacy and craftsmanship, while projecting an ambitious vision of becoming a global jewellery powerhouse.

The inauguration was graced by Shri Rahul Narvekar, Hon. Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, alongside GJEPC leadership including Chairman Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman Shaunak Parikh, and Convener (National Exhibitions) Nirav Bhansali. Distinguished guests included Mr. Pavel Marynichev (CEO, ALROSA) and Mr. Ajoy Chawla (CEO, Jewellery Division, Titan Company Ltd.).

Spanning 1.45 million sq. ft. across two venues—JIO World Convention Centre (30 July–3 August) and Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (31 July–4 August)—IIJS 2025 hosts over 3,600 stalls and 2,100 exhibitors, drawing more than 50,000 visitors from 1,300 Indian cities and 3,000 international buyers from over 80 countries.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Rahul Narvekar said, “The gem and jewellery industry is close to my heart, especially as it originated from areas like Zaveri Bazaar and Dagina Bazaar in my own Colaba constituency. IIJS reflects India’s potential to lead the global jewellery market, bolstered by a dynamic youth demographic and a thriving economy.”

Chairman Kirit Bhansali noted the transformative impact of global trade pacts: “The recently concluded India–UK Free Trade Agreement will double our sector’s bilateral trade to $7 billion in three years. The upcoming India–US agreement promises further growth. This is a call for Indian jewellers to ‘think global, act bold’.”

He added that IIJS Premiere 2025 is expected to drive business worth ₹70,000 crore in the coming quarter, showcasing the sector’s robustness and export potential.

A standout feature this year is “The Select Club”, a luxury jewellery section featuring 118 exhibitors known for couture design and innovation. Sustainability is also a major focus, with the show powered by 100% green energy, bans on single-use plastics, and over 200,000 trees planted. Plans are underway to make IIJS carbon-neutral by 2030–2032.

Mr. Ajoy Chawla, Titan’s Jewellery Division CEO, emphasized India’s design heritage: “Jewellers must take pride in our 5,000-year legacy and infuse global best practices in sustainability and customer experience. This will enable us to rival design powerhouses like Italy and Turkey.”

Mr. Shaunak Parikh, Vice Chairman, highlighted the participation of 15+ international delegations and encouraged Indian businesses to explore platforms like IJEX Dubai and the Innov8 seminar for networking and global exposure.

GJEPC Convener Nirav Bhansali reinforced the Council’s commitment to sustainable growth and a greener future for trade events: “IIJS is not just about commerce, it’s a movement towards responsible, world-class exhibitions.”

From traditional craftsmanship to futuristic sustainability goals, IIJS Premiere 2025 positions India as a leader in the global gem and jewellery value chain—celebrating artistry while embracing innovation.
